Wagga residents and tourists alike have already experienced the full benefits of stage 1 of the riverside redevelopment. The improvements to the location allowed for the introduction of a new festival aptly named the Cork and Fork Fest and will soon host a new Sunday markets called Riverside markets.

Events are important contributors to any economy and over the past month and a half the City of Wagga Wagga has hosted 14 major events. Six of which have been new or still in their infancy (2nd year). These events have ranged from lifestyle, food and drink to racing and car rallies. The major attendance has been to the Spring Street Festival, Riverina Truck Show and Kids Convoy, Aggies Race Day, Gears & Beers, FUSION15 and the Cork and Fork Fest.

The six new events received encouraging participation with conservatively 30,000 people attending.

All six new events have been supported by Wagga Wagga City Council via advice and assistance provided via the Events Unit and/or successful funding applications via the Annual Grants program or Major Events Sponsorship.

It is estimated that these events have contributed at least $3 million to the local economy via a combination of direct, industry and consumption aspects.
