BOMEN PARK IS IN BLOOM

The Daily Advertiser, 18 January 2010

The reputation of Wagga's Bomen Business Park continues to grow after R-Control Australasia confirmed it wanted to establish itself in the city.

As reported in The Daily Advertiser on Wednesday, the structural insulated panels manufacturing plant will bring 20 jobs To the region and Wagga was chosen due to its proximity to Melbourne and Sydney.

The Western Australian firm decided Wagga was the perfect place to set up its east coast plant, which would then export products across Australia and New Zealand.

Wagga was chosen ahead of sites at Perth and Brisbane due to the city's central location and various forms of available transport.

The company was also able to guarantee that all 20 employees would be sourced from the Riverina, with specialised trainers to be provided.

R-Control Australasia managing director Kerry Moir said Wagga had a great deal to offer.

"There were a lot of synergies between ourselves and the existing businesses that have similar green attitudes," he said.

"The ease of transport to major cities was also a major factor, Wagga is in easy contact with Melbourne and Sydney and R-Control services Australia, New Zealand and is expanding through Asia.

"We intend to build our first plant here and then expand but we thought Wagga was the correct choice and made financial sense."

It is hoped construction of the plant will be able to start in April or May, once Wagga City Council has given final approval. Mr Moir said technical officers would be brought in to start the business but would quickly train local employees to take over and ensure a total Riverina workforce.
