In preparation for the NBN rollout and switch on in the city, over 50 local business people attended an information session hosted by Council and NBN on Tuesday morning. The session included detailed information regarding the various types of technology and capabilities, as well as practical information for local businesses with regard to the switch over process.

While parts of Wagga Wagga and surrounding areas are currently connected using either a fixed line, wireless or satellite, the majority of the cities homes and businesses will be connected to a fibre-to-the-node (FTTN). NBN also suggested that there will be announcements in the coming weeks regarding some test case areas of the FTTN technology and suggested that the results are very positive.

NBN confirmed construction will begin in July next year and it is anticipated the works will take up to two years. A live rollout map is available on NBN's website, constantly being updated to reflect the stage and schedule of works being undertaken.
